After premiering at Sundance under its original name, the film was retitled to Idiots in April 2026 for its theatrical release.

Who else but Macon Blair would cast Peter Dinklage as a militant gang leader and call it a comedy?
Blair has a gift for finding humanity in the most desperate characters, and Idiots continues that tradition while delivering genuine laughs. The film holds a 75% on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics praising its refusal to go in predictable directions. Think Planes, Trains and Automobiles, except everyone is actively trying to ruin each other’s lives and nobody learns a wholesome lesson.
