Hassie Harrison has only a brief window in the first full Baywatch trailer, but those roughly 25 seconds do enough to establish why Nat could become one of the reboot’s more important characters. She appears beside Stephen Amell’s Hobie Buchannon, joining the new lifeguard team as the show revives the red-swimsuit spectacle for a new generation.

Hassie Harrison plays Nat, a lifeguard and one of Hobie’s closest confidants. The role gives her more to do than sprint down the beach in slow motion, although the trailer certainly remembers that Baywatch has never been shy about a dramatic shoreline run. Nat appears comfortable around Hobie, suggesting a trust that could become important as the captain deals with the return of his estranged daughter, Charlie Vale.

The short screen-time count is not an official measure of her place in the series, and it would be silly to judge a 12-episode show by a trailer lasting a couple of minutes. Marketing clips have to introduce the whole ensemble quickly, so some characters inevitably get less room. Still, Harrison’s inclusion among the central cast members suggests Nat is not just a decorative lifeguard waiting in the background for the next rescue whistle.

The reboot’s central family conflict sits with Hobie, played by Amell, the son of Mitch Buchannon from the original series. Now a captain himself, Hobie is trying to keep the team on track when Charlie arrives hoping to follow the family tradition. Her decision brings up a difficult question for a parent whose work involves running toward danger: how do you support your child choosing a job that could put her life at risk?

BAYWATCH | Official Trailer | Premieres This January on FOX

Nat could be the person Hobie turns to when professional duties and family worries collide. As his confidant, she has a role that can bridge the work drama and the personal story, especially if she understands the team better than someone newly stepping into its world. The trailer doesn’t confirm a romance, and there is no need to turn every close friendship between attractive television characters into a couple before episode one even airs.

Harrison comes to the series after roles in Yellowstone and Tacoma FD, where she showed she can handle both drama and comedy. Baywatch will ask her to work inside a franchise that has always mixed rescues with relationships, with one scene potentially moving from an ocean emergency to a private argument before the next commercial break.

The cast also includes Shay Mitchell as Trina, Noah Beck as Luke, Brooks Nader as Selene, Thaddeus LaGrone as Brad and Jessica Belkin as Charlie. David Chokachi returns as Cody Madison, connecting the new team to the show’s earlier era.

Fox will premiere Baywatch in January 2027, with the 12-episode first season also expected to stream next day on Hulu. Harrison’s few seconds in the trailer don’t reveal much about Nat’s long-term arc, but they set up a character positioned close to the team’s captain. The real test will be whether the show lets her become more than the sensible person standing beside Hobie while everyone else runs toward a burning boat.
