Arian Moayed is back in the MCU, and this time his character Agent P. Cleary is stepping into the spotlight in Marvel’s Wonder Man series.

“It feels amazing,” Moayed shared at the red carpet premiere. “I’m just so glad that the show is out into the world. Wonder Man is such a beautiful show that Marvel has made and I’m just so honored to be here celebrating with all these amazing people and artists about art.”

Returning to the Character

Moayed, who has appeared in both Spider-Man: No Way Home and Ms. Marvel, found himself slightly starstruck when returning to the role. “The first thing that I had to do were scenes with Sir Ben Kingsley,” he admitted. “Before I’m thinking about Agent Cleary, I’m just like—he is one of the greats.”

Fortunately, Kingsley proved to be “so gracious and kind,” allowing Moayed to settle into what he loves about the character: “I love his complicated [nature]—I love his jokes, I love his manipulation.”

The Department of Damage Control

In Wonder Man, Agent Cleary’s position within the Department of Damage Control puts him directly in Simon Williams’ path. “There is a hunt right now to find some superpowered folks and Agent Cleary has his eyes on Simon Williams,” Moayed explained.

But Cleary isn’t just another government agent causing headaches—he’s instrumental to the entire narrative. “He hires the best person and is, kind of, the catalyst for the whole Wonder Man series,” Moayed revealed. “He knows what he knows and he’s searching for the truth.”

A Different Kind of Marvel Project

Having worked across multiple MCU productions, Moayed noted how Wonder Man stands apart from his previous experiences. “A lot of it is based on the creator of the show,” he explained. “On Spider-Man, you could tell there’s a lot of energy of just trying to get it perfect so that the fans love it. With Ms. Marvel, you’re doing something global that they’ve never really tried before.”

Wonder Man, however, represents “a left turn a little bit for Marvel” that required “a little bit more gritty microrealism acting” to match the vision of creator Andrew Guest and his team.

A Message to Fans

Moayed left Marvel fans with a playful warning: “I love all of the fans out there that have all these theories on Agent Cleary. And if you don’t think I’m not watching, I am.”
