In an interview, Xolo Maridueña, the star of the upcoming film Blue Beetle, has thrilled DC fans with news of surprise cameos in the highly anticipated movie.

Maridueña hinted that viewers can expect to recognize more than just one character from the DC Universe, promising an exciting addition to the Blue Beetle narrative. While the film’s first official trailer has already mentioned Batman, the extent of other well-known DC characters joining the story remains a mystery.

Blue Beetle’s Place in the Evolving DC Universe

Initially intended to be a part of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), Blue Beetle’s future shifted with the advent of the new DCU helmed by James Gunn and Peter Safran.

Although the film was approved and produced prior to the Gunn-Safran regime, it aligns with The Flash, a movie that effectively rebooted the DCEU, paving the way for the DCU reboot. James Gunn himself has referred to Xolo Maridueña’s Blue Beetle as the “first DCU character,” while the forthcoming feature, Superman: Legacy, holds the distinction of being the “first full DCU movie.”
