Fifteen years later, the Jonas Brothers are heading back to camp and bringing their midlife crisis with them.

Disney just announced that Camp Rock 3 is officially in production, and honestly, it’s about time. After leaving fans hanging since 2010’s Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, Joe, Nick, and Kevin Jonas are dusting off their Connect 3 personas for another musical adventure that promises to be part nostalgia trip, part “how do we explain why we look like adults now?”

The Comeback Story

Filming kicked off this week in Vancouver, with the Jonas Brothers reprising their roles as Shane, Nate, and Jason Gray—the fictional band Connect 3 that launched a thousand teenage crushes. The Camp Rock 3 plot picks up years later when the band loses their opening act for a major reunion tour, forcing them to return to their old stomping grounds to find the next big thing.

It’s basically The Voice meets summer camp, with significantly better hair and the kind of Disney Channel Original Movie energy that made the 2000s magical.

The New Generation

While the Jonas Brothers return as the seasoned veterans, Camp Rock 3 introduces fresh faces to carry the musical torch. Liamani Segura (Descendants: Wicked Wonderland) plays ambitious Sage, while newcomer Hudson Stone portrays her laid-back brother Desi. The cast also includes Malachi Barton (ZOMBIES 4) as rebellious Fletch and Lumi Pollack (Electric Bloom) as cello virtuoso Rosie.

Casey Trotter (The Thundermans) joins as drummer Cliff, Brooklynn Pitts as dance queen Callie, and Ava Jean as the formidable influencer Madison—because apparently, even summer camps aren’t immune to social media culture now.

The Demi Situation

Here’s where things get interesting: Demi Lovato, who played Mitchie Torres in the original films, returns as an executive producer alongside the Jonas Brothers. However, Disney hasn’t confirmed whether she’ll reprise her character on-screen, leaving fans to speculate about potential surprise appearances.

The recent Jonas Brothers concert reunion, where Lovato joined them on stage for a Camp Rock medley at MetLife Stadium, certainly suggests the door’s open for more collaboration beyond just producing duties.

The Legacy Factor

Maria Canals-Barrera (Wizards of Waverly Place) returns as Connie Torres, providing continuity between the original films and this new installment. Sherry Cola (Joy) joins the franchise as newcomer Lark, adding to the camp’s expanding universe.

Camp Rock 3 faces the unique challenge of honoring its Disney Channel Original Movie roots while acknowledging that both its stars and original audience have aged significantly. The Jonas Brothers went from teen heartthrobs to married fathers, which should make their return to summer camp counselor roles… interesting.

The Production Reality

Disney+ and Disney Channel will both air Camp Rock 3, maximizing the franchise’s reach across platforms. The fact that Disney greenlit this project suggests strong confidence in the nostalgia market—apparently, millennials have enough disposable income to support their childhood obsessions.

The Camp Rock franchise occupies a special place in Disney Channel history alongside High School Musical and The Cheetah Girls. These movies defined a generation’s relationship with made-for-TV musicals and launched careers that are still thriving today.

The Expectation Game

No premiere date has been announced yet, but with filming just beginning, expect Camp Rock 3 to arrive sometime in 2026. The challenge will be balancing original fans’ nostalgia with new audiences who weren’t alive when the first film premiered.

Whether Camp Rock 3 captures the magic that made the originals beloved or feels like a cash grab attempting to monetize millennial nostalgia remains to be seen. At minimum, we’re guaranteed at least one song that’ll get stuck in your head for weeks and honestly, isn’t that what Disney Channel Original Movies are all about?
