Chris Evans last appeared in Avengers: Endgame years ago. He has now offered a fresh update regarding his potential return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as Captain America.

It has been almost five years since Evans ended his tenure as Captain America in Avengers: Endgame. While Sam Wilson is now the new Captain America in the MCU, the fans still hope to see Evans in the said character in the future. In a recent interview, Chris Evans was asked if there’s any possibility that he’ll be returning to the franchise. He was open to the idea but also explained how Captain America should not feel like just a “cash grab” and should meet people’s expectations. Evans expressed pride in his legacy as Captain America.

He said,

Yeah, maybe. I’ll never say never, just because it was such a wonderful experience. But I’m also very precious with it. It’s something that I am very proud of. And like I said, sometimes I can’t believe it even happened. And I wouldn’t want the black eye if it felt like a cash grab or if it didn’t live up to expectations or if it just felt like it wasn’t connected to that original thing. So, no time soon. And ultimately I really hope to just maybe act a little bit less in my life. I have a lot of other interests. Look, by no means have I climbed any sort of a mountain in this field. I have no Oscars and I’m not lumped with other names that are at the top of the mountain in any way. But I also feel very satisfied.

How Chris Evans’ Captain America ending avoids an important return issue

Chris Evans‘ comments on his return to the MCU franchise were rather positive and impressive. Captain America could only make a return if Evans was introduced to a powerful storyline to which he could be drawn. Evans cleared how he did not anticipate a cameo as it would destroy his five-action legacy, given how Steve Rogers’ journey ended in Avengers: Endgame. This statement proves his sincerity to the franchise and to the role.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has been thrown a combination of success and challenges in Phase 4, pertaining to The Multiverse Saga. Looking at the current state of the MCU, it is important that Rogers makes a comeback as Captain America. A return should be carefully crafted so that the end of the character in Avengers: Endgame does not lose its significance. The return should be strong and impactful.

The return of Chris Evans as Captain America could be in various forms, be it Steve Rogers or the main Earth-19999 incarnation, possibly referring to time travel. Fans are highly eager to witness Evans in his last adventure. If the return happens, it would be the best fit for Captain America: Brave New World or Avengers: Secret Wars. Until that happens, the fans can always go over Captain’s endeavors in MCU through Disney+ and Blu-Ray/DVD collections.
