Did you know that Chris Hemsworth has used the same stunt double on every movie since Thor: The Dark World in 2013? And that the work involved in matching the actor’s incredible physique included eating eight meals a day and wearing ‘high heels’ on set? As part of our new series, Seeing Double, which looks into the extraordinary lives of some of film and TV’s most fearless performers – stunt doubles – we talk to Bobby Holland Hanton, who is best known for doubling Chris on everything from Thor and Avengers to his latest movie, Netflix’s Extraction. Bobby chatted to Metro.co.uk about everything, from being thrown about by Thanos in Avengers: Endgame and the intense training needed to be the god of thunder, to his close friendship with Chris.

What were the most dangerous stunts he performed as Thor? ‘I felt like on Endgame, as Fat Thor, I got smashed around like a rag doll,’ Bobby explained. ‘I got ratcheted (pulled back at serious velocity) and I got jerked back by Thanos into a breakaway tree. So…the back of my head, neck, and shoulders smashed into the tree and smashed down face-first into the ground. And it was probably one of the fastest pulls and ratchets I’ve ever done. ‘We did a couple before that with a slower speed and we all agreed…”Look, we need to look a bit harder.”‘ Bobby explained: ‘[There was] lots of lots of smashing around on wires and getting dragged and pulled…and getting thrown into a dead stop on a wire and hitting the ground. So yeah, a lot of whiplash! ‘A few moments of seeing stars but I’m still very proud of that film.’
