Daredevil Born Again season 2 is finally giving Marvel fans what they’ve been begging for since the Netflix shows were unceremoniously cancelled in 2018: the real thing. Not a soft reboot, not a spiritual successor, but an actual continuation of the story we left unfinished, with the actual actors who made those characters iconic. The newly released trailer confirms what cast members have been hinting at for months—this is the Daredevil sequel we’ve been waiting for.
Season 1 of Born Again was… complicated. Marvel originally intended it as a separate entity, a fresh start with only Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio reprising their roles. The plan was to decanonize the Netflix franchise entirely, recast Vanessa Fisk, and tell a new story. Cox and D’Onofrio pushed back hard. They didn’t want to pretend the previous three seasons didn’t happen. Jon Bernthal declined to return as The Punisher because he wasn’t happy with the direction. The whole project was in creative chaos.

Then Marvel did something unprecedented: they pressed the reset button mid-production. They brought back almost the entire Netflix cast, including Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa Fisk. They filmed a new pilot, shortened the season from eighteen to nine episodes, and quietly renewed for a second season to utilize the remaining footage. The result was a season that felt like two different shows stitched together—parts that were very Daredevil and parts that weren’t. The death of Foggy Nelson didn’t sit right with audiences. The quick dispatch of villain Muse felt rushed. The standalone bank episode generated endless debate.

But the back three episodes? Those were divine. They matched the tone of the original series, set up the conflicts properly, and promised a second season that would be the true revival fans wanted. Deborah Ann Woll, returning as Karen Page, confirmed it: “If you’re a fan of the vibe of the Netflix series, this definitely stays true to that and probably amplifies it.” Wilson Bethel, who plays Bullseye, went further: “For those of us who, when the first season dropped, were like, ‘Oh, cool. This is dope, but it’s not quite getting me where I was with the old show’—it will make the season 1 of Born Again feel like the setup, and this is the payoff.”

The season 2 trailer delivers on those promises. Kingpin is now mayor of New York City, enacting martial law and creating a hopeless vacuum that echoes his reign of terror in the original series’ first season. This sets the stage for an impossible odds comeback for The Devil of Hell’s Kitchen as he rallies a team of heroes to stand up to the corruption. And within that team are some very welcome returnees.
Krysten Ritter is back as Jessica Jones. The other biggest character in the Netflix franchise, Jessica headlined her own series for three seasons and starred opposite Daredevil in The Defenders. Her return is the fulfillment of years of fan hopes, and the trailer shows her teaming up with Matt Murdock in ways that suggest their complicated dynamic remains intact. She’s still sarcastic, still damaged, still the perfect foil for Matt’s Catholic guilt.

Rumors persist that Mike Colter’s Luke Cage and Finn Jones’ Iron Fist will appear as well—both actors were spotted in New York during filming. Royce Johnson returns as Detective Brett Mahoney, now promoted and ready to help take down the Kingpin in memory of Foggy. Elden Henson will appear as Foggy in flashback, because apparently Marvel understands that killing him was a mistake they need to address.
The trailer shows Matt and Karen together again, fighting side by side, their unresolved romantic tension still crackling. It shows Kingpin in full political mode, using the system to crush his enemies legally. It shows Bullseye being terrifying, because that’s what Wilson Bethel does best. It shows the kind of gritty, grounded action that made the Netflix shows special, now with Disney+ budget and Marvel Studios production values.
Daredevil: Born Again season 2 is the moment the revival justifies its existence. Season 1 was the price of admission; season 2 is the main event. With the creative reboot behind them and the full cast assembled, this is the show fans have been waiting for since 2018. The Man Without Fear is back, and he’s brought friends.
Watch the Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 trailer now and stream Season 1 on Disney+ to prepare. The Devil of Hell’s Kitchen returns with the team you remember—this is the real deal.
