Descendants Wicked Wonderland drops July 16 on Disney Channel with new characters, new songs, and time travel consequences.

Descendants Wicked Wonderland is the fifth installment in a franchise that refuses to die, and honestly? Good for it. Disney Channel’s musical fantasy series has evolved from a simple “villain kids go to prep school” premise into a full-blown multiverse involving time travel, Wonderland, and now a sports tournament that somehow threatens reality itself.

The film picks up after The Rise of Red, where Red (Kylie Cantrall) and Chloe Charming (Malia Baker) traveled through time and accidentally altered the fabric of reality. Descendants Wicked Wonderland explores the consequences of that meddling, because in Disney mythology, changing the past always comes with a price. Usually that price involves a new villain trying to harness magic for personal gain.

This time, Wonderland hosts Auradon’s Kingdom Cup Games, which sounds like a friendly athletic competition but is actually a front for an unexpected villain to steal Wonderland’s magic. Red and Chloe must assemble a team of unlikely allies to save the Queen of Hearts and all of Wonderland. Descendants Wicked Wonderland plot continues the franchise’s commitment to giving Disney princess descendants actual agency rather than just letting them sing about boys.

Descendants Wicked Wonderland Cast Expands the Family Tree

Descendants Wicked Wonderland cast adds several new villain offspring to the mix. Liamani Segura plays Pink, Red’s little sister and daughter of the Queen of Hearts. Brendon Tremblay is Max Hatter, son of Maddox Hatter. Alexandro Byrd plays Luis Madrigal, suggesting some Encanto DNA has entered the Descendants gene pool. Kiara Romero is Hazel Hook, daughter of Captain Hook, because every generation needs its own pirate aesthetic.

Joel Oulette joins as Robbie Hood, son of Robin Hood, and Zavien Garrett plays Felix Facilier, continuing the Dr. Facilier lineage from The Princess and the Frog. Ryan McEwen and Dayton Paradis take over as Squirmy and Squeaky Smee, previously played by Christian Convery and Luke Roessler. The returning adult cast includes Rita Ora as the Queen of Hearts, Brandy as Cinderella, Melanie Paxson as the Fairy Godmother, and Paolo Montalban as King Charming.

Awkwafina voices Chessy the Cat, a new character who presumably offers sarcastic commentary while the teenagers save the world. Descendants Wicked Wonderland voice casting suggests the film is leaning into comedy as much as musical numbers.

Production wrapped in Vancouver at the end of May 2025 after two months of filming. Descendants Wicked Wonderland release strategy follows the established pattern: Disney Channel premiere on July 16, 2026, followed by Disney+ streaming the next day. This dual release maximizes both ratings and subscriber engagement.

The franchise has proven remarkably durable. What started as a 2015 Disney Channel Original Movie has spawned four sequels, animated spinoffs, and a dedicated fanbase that follows the lore with Harry Potter-level intensity. Descendants Wicked Wonderland represents the next evolution, moving beyond the Isle of the Lost into broader Disney mythology.

If you have a tween in your life, you already know this movie is happening whether you like it or not. Might as well learn the songs.

Watch Descendants Wicked Wonderland on Disney Channel July 16 and Disney+ July 17, and prepare for another round of villain kids saving the world.
