Vin Diesel is set to return as the voice of Groot in the upcoming season of I Am Groot, following his last appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Groot’s vocabulary is widely recognized for its limitation to the phrase I am Groot. However, Vin Diesel’s portrayal of the character has been nothing short of iconic and remarkably expressive.

I Am Groot Season 2 is on the horizon, and Kirsten Lepore, the producer and director of the series, had positive things to say about Vin Diesel’s work in the show. She praised his “wonderful” attitude and mentioned how supportive and committed he has been during the recording sessions. Lepore also highlighted Diesel’s willingness to go above and beyond, adding extra effort to his performance.

Vin Diesel’s return as the voice of Groot in the upcoming season of I Am Groot coincides with the conclusion of the original Guardians’ journey in the MCU under the direction of James Gunn, which took place in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Marvel Producer Teases Groot-tastic MCU Return of Vin Diesel in I Am Groot After Guardians of the Galaxy 3

As for the future of Groot in the MCU, there are currently no confirmed appearances beyond Season 2 of I Am Groot. However, the possibility remains open for Groot to return in future projects. Following the events of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the original Guardians team disbanded, with Rocket assuming a leadership role and assembling a new lineup, a development highlighted in the film’s post-credits scene.

James Gunn, the director of the Guardians films, has stated that the original team’s story in the MCU is concluded, but he hasn’t ruled out more adventures for the new Guardians. Although Gunn won’t be directly involved in these potential future projects, there’s room for the new Guardians to play a role in the MCU, possibly in an ensemble project like “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.”

Moreover, Groot’s character evolution could introduce interesting changes to Vin Diesel’s performance, especially since Groot was heard speaking full, understandable sentences at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

I Am Groot Season 2 is set to arrive on Disney+ on September 6, featuring all five of its episodes. While there’s no official announcement of Groot’s return in the main MCU films, the character’s popularity leaves the door open for potential future appearances.
