Dune Part Two Killer fighter Shishakli almost got cut from the film. Meet Souheila Yacoub, the Swiss gymnast who stole every scene.

Dune Part Two Killer fighter Shishakli almost got cut from the film entirely, and that would have been a crime against cinema. Let’s be honest, when you think of Dune: Part Two, you think of sandworms and Timothée Chalamet’s dewy eyes, but the real scene-stealer is a Fremen warrior played by a former Swiss rhythmic gymnast who can probably kick higher than your rent.

Dune: Part Two is Denis Villeneuve’s 2024 sequel to his Oscar-winning adaptation of Frank Herbert’s sci-fi epic. The film follows Paul Atreides as he integrates with the Fremen and wages war against House Harkonnen. Souheila Yacoub plays Shishakli, the squad leader of the Fedaykin, the Fremen’s elite death commandos. She shares the screen with Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, and Austin Butler in the Legendary and Warner Bros. production that grossed over $700 million worldwide.

Dune Part Two Killer Fact You Missed

Before she was slaying Harkonnens on Arrakis, Yacoub was a literal Swiss National Rhythmic Gymnastics Team competitor. She trained at La Haute école fédérale de sport de Macolin and represented Switzerland at the 2009 and 2010 World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships. When the team failed to qualify for the Olympics, she quit the sport at 16, won Miss Suisse Romande 2012, and pivoted to acting at the Cours Florent in Paris. Her journey from gymnastics mat to desert warfare is basically the plot of a sports movie crossed with Lawrence of Arabia, if T.E. Lawrence could do a back handspring while wielding a crysknife.

That athletic precision is exactly what made her Fremen fight choreography look so brutally elegant. She was not just acting like a killer; she was bringing athlete-level body control to every stab and slash, making the Fedaykin feel like a genuine military unit rather than background extras in stillsuits. How many other Fremen actors can say they competed at the World Championships? Villeneuve cast her in July 2022 after seeing her work in Gaspar Noé’s Climax and the Cannes-selected film The Braves, recognizing that her physical background could bring authenticity to the Fedaykin’s brutal combat style.

Dune Part Two Killer fighter energy is not something you can fake with CGI. Yacoub’s presence in the film reminds us that the best sci-fi performances are rooted in physical reality, not just green screens and good lighting. She has already booked Evil Dead Burn for 2026, which means her action star trajectory is just getting started. The lesson here is clear: never bench the gymnast, because she might come back and conquer an entire desert planet while looking effortlessly cool in a stillsuit.
