Super Troopers 3 brings Broken Lizard back for another mustache ride with Chace Crawford and Nat Faxon joining the chaos. August 7, 2026.

Super Troopers 3 exists because some franchises refuse to die with dignity, and honestly? We are better for it. Jay Chandrasekhar and the Broken Lizard crew have spent two decades building a comedy empire on cheap weed jokes, mustache gags, and the kind of Canadian-border humor that makes you feel slightly guilty for laughing. The third installment arrives August 7, 2026, and the plot sounds exactly as unhinged as you’d hope.

The story centers on Farva’s engagement to Thorny’s sister, which apparently spirals into chaos because of course it does. Super Troopers 3 also has the troopers cracking a new drug ring while trying to save the wedding, which means we’re getting the full Broken Lizard cocktail of domestic disaster and criminal incompetence. Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, and Erik Stolhanske all return alongside Chandrasekhar, with Brian Cox back as Captain O’Hagan and Marisa Coughlan as Ursula.

The new blood is what makes Super Troopers 3 genuinely interesting. Chace Crawford—yes, Nate Archibald from Gossip Girl, currently doing unhinged things on The Boys—joins as Baker Buchanan. Nat Faxon, Oscar winner for The Descendants, plays Captain Todd Markowski. Andrew Dismukes from Saturday Night Live is Coy Burns. Hannah Simone, Iqbal Theba, Sakina Jaffrey, Jon Rudnitsky, and Lisa Gilroy round out the additions. This is not a cast list; this is a cry for help, and I mean that affectionately.

Super Troopers 3 Wrapped in Six Weeks

Super Troopers 3 production was characteristically efficient. Principal photography began in late August 2025 and wrapped by October 2, because Broken Lizard does not mess around when there’s beer to drink and jokes to write. Searchlight Pictures is distributing, which means Disney technically owns the franchise now, a fact that would have seemed impossible when the original film premiered at Sundance in 2001. The combined budget for the first two films was under $15 million, and they’ve grossed $55 million globally. Super Troopers 3 presumably cost slightly more but remains a low-budget comedy by modern standards.

What makes this franchise endure is the chemistry. These guys have been friends since college, and their improvisational rapport is the secret weapon. Super Troopers 3 doesn’t need CGI or elaborate set pieces. It needs five guys in a car arguing about syrup chugging while a drug dealer explodes in the background. The humor is juvenile, yes, but it’s also democratic—anyone can appreciate a well-timed “meow” joke, regardless of education level or political affiliation.

The August 7 release date puts Super Troopers 3 against Universal’s One Night Only and an untitled New Line film, which means the comedy competition is fierce. But Broken Lizard has never been afraid of a fight. They crowdfunded the second film, survived Disney’s corporate restructuring, and now they’re back with a wedding plot that promises more chaos than your cousin’s open bar reception.

Catch Super Troopers 3 in theaters August 7, 2026, and prepare for the mustache ride you didn’t know you needed.
