A24 Dinner Party Looks Cursed

A24 The Invite poster just dropped, and it promises exactly the kind of dinner party where nobody leaves alive or emotionally intact. Seth Rogen, Olivia Wilde, Penélope Cruz, and Edward Norton gathered around a table that looks suspiciously like the last supper if Jesus had served anxiety and passive-aggressive wine pours instead of bread.

The tagline teases “one hell of a dinner party,” which in A24 language means someone is getting stabbed with a butter knife or revealing a family secret that destroys three marriages. A24 The Invite poster uses muted colors and serious faces to signal that this will not be the fun kind of dinner party. This is the kind where you fake a stomachache at the salad course and Uber home before the main.

Rogen plays against type as someone who probably isn’t the comic relief. Wilde continues her streak of playing women who make terrible decisions beautifully. Cruz brings international gravitas to what is likely a very American nightmare. And Norton—well, Norton specializes in characters who seem helpful until they’re absolutely not. A24 The Invite poster suggests these four people have history, trauma, and probably a shared secret involving real estate fraud.

Dark comedies about dinner parties are A24’s sweet spot. They understand that the most dangerous place in the world isn’t a war zone—it’s a dining room where someone brought up politics before dessert. A24 The Invite poster promises psychological warfare with excellent lighting.
