Alpha Gang movie is the new sci-fi comedy from David and Nathan Zellner, the directors behind Sasquatch Sunset, and it centers on alien invaders disguised as a 1950s leather-clad biker gang sent to conquer Earth. Blanchett stars as Alpha One, the gang’s ruthless leader, alongside Dave Bautista, Chris Pine, Léa Seydoux, Lily-Rose Depp, and Doona Bae.
The twist is that these extraterrestrial warriors show no mercy until they catch the most toxic and contagious human disease of all: emotion. Once joy, fear, empathy, and love infect their alien programming, their plans for world domination start falling apart in spectacular fashion. The project went through several cast iterations before landing its final lineup, with Channing Tatum and Zoë Kravitz originally attached before departing and Chris Pine, Lily-Rose Depp, and Kelvin Harrison Jr. stepping in to round out the gang.

The coolest production detail about Alpha Gang movie is where the Zellner brothers filmed key sequences. They shot at the Monument to the Revolution of the People of Moslavina in Podgarić, Croatia—a massive brutalist concrete structure built in 1967 that looks like it was dropped onto Earth from another galaxy. This is the same location that cinematographer Mike Gioulakis, who regularly shoots for Jordan Peele and M. Night Shyamalan, lensed for the film, which means every frame will have that uncanny, slightly-off feeling that defines the best alien invasion stories.
The production also filmed in Budapest, giving the Alpha Gang movie a distinctly Eastern European backdrop that contrasts beautifully with their American 1950s biker aesthetic.
