Brie Larson portrays the titular role in Captain Marvel. That means that her character is always part of the action. Which leads to a big question for many fans: did Brie Larson do her own stunts in the Captain Marvel movie?
When Brie Larson dons the Captain Marvel costume, she becomes a superhero. She commands respect with her leadership skills and her sheer strength. But how strong is Brie Larson herself? And does she do her own stunts?
Find out, ahead.
Most people probably wouldn’t profess surprise that a Marvel actor has multiple stunt doubles. Working on Marvel movies is grueling, mentally and physically, especially for a character as athletic and dynamic as Black Widow.
However, Scarlett Johansson had as many as three stunt doubles when she was working on Avengers: Age of Ultron, at least partly for a very big (or small) reason – she was pregnant at the time she shot it.
Angelina Jolie – When Angelina Jolie landed the role of the action heroine in the 2001 film Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, the 24-year-old star, then dating Billy Bob Thornton, had a wild-child reputation. Jolie was a success, and the role ultimately helped establish her A-list status in Hollywood. The film earned $275 million worldwide in its opening
Gal Gadot – Actress Gal Gadot walked away from the set of the upcoming Wonder Woman sequel with a few “spine injuries” after struggling to say no to performing her own stunts for director Patty Jenkins. Gal Gadot reprises her role as Amazonian warrior princess Diana Prince and her titular alter ego in Wonder Woman 1984, which features the star pulling off a number of high-octane action sequences
Margot Robbie – In Birds of Prey, Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn kicks and stabs her way through many sticky situations. In a world where CGI turned Beyoncé into a lion, it’s easy to think that Harley Quinn’s stunts were the work of the post-production team — or, at the very least, all done by a very experienced stunt performer. That’s not the case, apparently: Robbie did many of her own stunts for Birds of Prey, and there’s video evidence to prove it.
Charliez Theron – With action movies like “Atomic Blonde” and “Mad Max: Fury Road,” actress Charlize Theron has built a reputation for not being scared to do her own stunts, especially fight sequences. Her latest movie, Netflix’s “The Old Guard” (available on the service Friday), is no exception.
Karen Gill – Nebula might be one of the toughest and fiercest women in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and her action scenes in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 bring that point home. But according to actress Karen Gillan her own real-life clumsiness meant that there was one epic stunt that she had to walk away from.
Actress Elizabeth Olsen suffered a serious bruise on her upper arm after injuring herself in a stunt for the Avengers project.
The Godzilla star portrays Wanda Maxim-off and her superhero alter ego Scarlet Witch in the Marvel blockbusters, and she has taken to social media to show off a photo of her sore right bicep, which featured a large bruise.
The Iowa-born actress, who spent many of her formative years in her parents’ home country of Zimbabwe, did her own stunts in the scene and also has high praise for costume designer Ruth Carter who created the “normal dress” she wears during that fight sequence.
