It appears that Giancarlo Esposito, who is most known for his role as Gus Fring in Breaking Bad, will (hopefully) play the lead in a future MCU movie or TV show. Esposito is pictured on stage at the TJH Superhero Car Show & Comic Con in San Antonio, Texas, in a popular TikTok video shared by user countdowncitygeeks.

And the actor gushed with excitement about having “been in a room with them and talked to them” despite not having “yet worked for Marvel.” Though he didn’t say just who “they” are, we’re hoping it’s Kevin Feige, the CEO of Marvel Studios. Esposito then hinted at the role he would play if he does join the MCU.

“So, there’s been talk of Magneto. There’s been talk of Dr Freeze. There has been talk of, who else are they talking about over here? Oh, [Dr] Doom. And there is Professor X.”

Esposito was then asked which character, if any, he would choose to portray. The five-time Emmy nominee answered by saying, “I’m gonna go with something a little bit different. I’m gonna go and put it out in the universe that it is Professor X.”

In the early part of this year’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Sir Patrick Stewart portrayed the original MCU Professor X. Stewart, however, portrayed a Professor X character from a different realm (Earth-838) and Marvel Studios has not yet indicated whether Stewart will portray Professor X in the main MCU dimension (Earth-616).

This indicates that there is a strong possibility Esposito may portray Professor X in a future MCU endeavor. Esposito typically portrays the antagonist, such as Gus Fring in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, Moff Gideon in The Mandalorian, and Stan Edgar in The Boys. Therefore, seeing him play a hero would be incredibly energizing.

Esposito may earn the Professor X job, but it’s not yet known when he’ll make his MCU debut. Hopefully, it will be revealed during Disney’s D23 Expo, where it is anticipated that Marvel will unveil significant MCU casting and movie news, next month. Stay tuned…
