Netflix’s second season of “Squid Game” welcomes eight new cast members

The second season of “Squid Game” on Netflix is expanding its roster with eight additional actors.

Park Gyu-young, Jo Yu-ri, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Lee Jin-uk, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, and Won Ji-an are new cast members of the international smash show’s second season.

Along with the returning stars Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Gong Yoo, and Wi Ha-jun, Yim Si-Wan, Kang Ha-Neul, Park Sung-Hoon, and Yang Dong-Geun were also going to be appearing in the upcoming season, according to a prior announcement from Netflix.

The show’s originator, Hwang Dong-hyuk, will reprise his roles as writer, director, and executive producer for the upcoming season. Executive producing will also be Kim Ji-yeon. The producer is Firstman Studio.

The first season of “Squid Game” debuted on television in September 2021 and went on to become the most watched season of entertainment in Netflix era with over 2.2 billion hours watched, or 265.2 million views for the whole series.

For Season 1, the program received 14 Emmy nominations. In the end, it took home six awards, including Lee’s unprecedented victory in the category for best actor in a drama. Hwang was also awarded the Emmy for outstanding drama directing.

With the forthcoming reality contest series “Squid Game: The Challenge,” Netflix is also capitalizing on the success of the program by having competitors play games from the written version in an effort to win cash. The program is slated to premiere in November.

The fans Worldwide are eager for season 2 as they can hardly imagine what the new season brings with new additions of casting.
