Nolan Odyssey Cast Is Stacked

Nolan Odyssey cast might be the most impressive ensemble ever assembled for a movie about a guy who takes the scenic route home from war. Christopher Nolan looked at Homer’s epic poem, saw three thousand years of adaptation history, and said “what if we added Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Charlize Theron, and also a cyclops?” The result is a cast list that reads like a fantasy draft of Hollywood’s most reliable performers.

Nolan Odyssey cast officially includes Matt Damon as Odysseus, because when you need a man to suffer beautifully for three hours, you call Matt Damon. Tom Holland plays Telemachus, which means Spider-Man is now the son of Jason Bourne. Anne Hathaway is Penelope, bringing her third collaboration with Nolan and her specific brand of luminous desperation. Robert Pattinson plays Antinous, the chief suitor, which means Batman is trying to steal Batman’s wife while Spider-Man watches.

But wait, there’s more. Zendaya plays Athena, goddess of wisdom and warfare, which means she’s basically mentoring Spider-Man while disguised as an old man at various points. Charlize Theron is Calypso, the nymph who keeps Odysseus prisoner for seven years, because if you’re going to be trapped on an island, it might as well be with Charlize Theron. Jon Bernthal plays Menelaus, fresh off being The Punisher and also appearing in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. This cast has more franchise crossovers than a comic convention.

Lupita Nyong’o pulls double duty as Helen of Troy AND her sister Clytemnestra, because one Oscar winner playing two roles is more efficient than two Oscar winners playing one role each. Benny Safdie is Agamemnon, continuing his transition from indie director to Nolan regular. John Leguizamo plays Eumaeus the swineherd, which is the kind of casting that makes you realize Nolan has a sense of humor. Mia Goth is Melantho, Penelope’s duplicitous servant, bringing her horror movie intensity to ancient Greece.

Nolan Odyssey cast also includes Samantha Morton as Circe, Elliot Page as Achilles (maybe), and Bill Irwin puppeteering Polyphemus the cyclops. There’s even a dog—Argos, Odysseus’ faithful hound who waited twenty years for his master. Nolan told Stephen Colbert that Argos’ reunion with Odysseus is “one of the greatest moments in the story” and “one of the things that hooked me.” If Christopher Nolan is making a three-hour epic partly because of a dog, I trust that implicitly.

The film arrives July 17, 2026, shot in real locations with practical effects and IMAX cameras. Nolan Odyssey cast isn’t just star power—it’s a collection of actors who can handle Nolan’s specific demands: technical precision, emotional restraint, and the ability to deliver exposition while running from a giant whirlpool. By the time the credits roll, half of Hollywood will have appeared in ancient Greek armor, and audiences will have witnessed something unprecedented.
