The Suicide Squad is happening and while critics weren’t into David Ayer’sfirst film, there’s reason to be hopeful for the sequel (or is it a reboot?).

With a largely new cast and Guardians of the Galaxy‘s James Gunn taking over from Ayer as director, The Suicide Squad (as it is officially called) is one of the most-anticipated movies of 2021.

Despite the critical bashing, Suicide Squad grossed almost $750 million worldwide and if Gunn gets it right, the sequel could well be one of the biggest movies of next year as well.

So here’s everything you need to know.

Suicide Squad 2 release date: When is The Suicide Squad out?

On January 30, 2019, Warner Bros finally confirmedThe Suicide Squad‘s release date will be August 6, 2021.

Filming took place from September 2019 to February 2020, with a pause during production for Gunn to fly home and be with his beloved pooch Wesley before he died.

Suicide Squad 2 trailer: When will The Suicide Squad trailer arrive?

Filming has wrapped and Gunn said in April 2020 that it’s a “likely” possibility that we’ll see the first footage this year.

It could well be that this will be during DC’s huge online event FanDome, taking place on Saturday, August 22. The Suicide Squad is confirmed to be covered during the event, but there’s no confirmation on what the involvement will be.

Right now, we can just hope that it’s a teaser trailer at least, but we’ll have to wait and see.

The Suicide Squad is out in cinemas on August 6, 2021. And for now, here is our fan made video. Enjoy!
