Erwin’s background directing Jesus Revolution and American Underdog prepared him for faith-based audience expectations, but Young Washington movie aims wider, targeting anyone who enjoys watching young men get tested by fire.
Angel Studios is distributing, which means the film has a built-in grassroots marketing machine. The studio’s “pay it forward” ticket model lets supporters buy seats for strangers, and they’ve already launched a campaign to make Young Washington movie the number one film over Fourth of July weekend. The Tribeca Festival premiere on June 13, 2026 will generate early buzz before the wide release on July 3.
What makes this project genuinely intriguing is the timing. In an era of fractured national identity, a film about Washington’s failures and growth feels almost subversive.
