Netflix’s animated sensation has just achieved something no soundtrack has done in nearly 50 years. The KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack became the first album since Saturday Night Fever in 1978 to place three songs simultaneously in the Billboard Hot 100 top 5, proving that animated K-pop can compete with the biggest names in music.

HUNTR/X’s “Golden” rests comfortably at No. 1 for a second non-consecutive week, amassing whopping 328 million streams and 161 million radio impressions. Saja Boys’ songs “Your Idol” and “Soda Pop” took the No. 4 and No. 5 positions respectively. But record-breaking doesn’t end there—”How It’s Done” also debuted in top 10 at No. 10, marking the first soundtrack ever with four songs charting at the same time in the top 10.

KPop Demon Hunters Soundtrack Shatters 30-Year Old Record

The KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack joins an elite club as only the fifth soundtrack in Hot 100 history to achieve four top 10 hits, following legendary albums like Waiting to Exhale and The Bodyguard. Director Maggie Kang from Toronto knew they had something special, telling reporters, “We understood the music had to be able to stand on its own with all the pop songs out there, because K-pop is so good.”

The animated film features voices from EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami as HUNTR/X, while Andrew Choi, Neckwav, Danny Chung, Kevin Woo, and samUIL Lee bring the villainous Saja Boys to life. The project benefited from collaboration with THEBLACK, the Korean label behind BLACKPINK, ensuring authentic K-pop production values.

Chart Success Mirrors Netflix Streaming Dominance

This KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack triumph mirrors the film’s performance on the stream impeccably. The film has become Netflix’s highest-grossing original animated series of all time with 236 million views and toppling Red Notice from its throne in mere 67 days. The soundtrack comprises 12 tracks and has also attracted more than 518 million monthly Spotify listeners.

Grammy-winning producer Ludwig Göransson collaborated on the album with THEBLACK, producing tracks that serve as part of the narrative and as indie K-pop anthems that seriously compete on international charts.
