Lupita Nyong’o made a bold statement on the red carpet of the 2023 Tony Awards by donning an incredibly lifelike silver armor that was sculpted from her own nude torso.

The Oscar winner described wearing the custom Misha Japanwala design as “A shameless out-of-body experience” on Instagram, adding that she was “honored, humbled, strengthened and energized” to wear the one-of-a-kind creation on the Tonys carpet.

Misha Japanwala is a Pakistani fashion designer and artist whose work centers on the deconstruction of outward shame tied to one’s body and its rejection.

“In her artistic process, she creates a realistic and true record of a person’s body as an act of resistance and celebration, and an insistence on being allowed to exist freely in our bodies,” Nyong’o, 40, continued.

Lupita is changing things up. She posted a photo of her freshly shaven head on Instagram and captioned it, “Happy without hair!”

The “Black Panther” actress also made fun of the Dora Milaje, a group of female soldiers that act as special forces for Wakanda in the Marvel film, saying that her “Application for the Dora Milaje submitted!”

Fans praised Lupita in the comments section and gushed over how gorgeous she looked with her newly shaven head.

One person who supported the 40-year-old actress wrote, “Wakanda forever.” Another different supporter commented, “Behold our Queen.”
